Historical Abstract: Constructed in 1888 for Col. Anthony Brown, who operated a grocery store in one of the storefronts. Other early tenants included two drug stores and Sharp Brothers Furniture. The second level loft was originally divided into 13 micro apartments with one communal bathroom. The original metal and concrete wash tub has since been repurposed, and is now the catch basin for the laundry shoot. The fire escape which was forged in 1887. Of particular note, is the exposed steel beam across the front of the building that lies between the loft and the main level.
